Moby hits top spot again

Moby retained the Nobbers Trophy in fine style at Thorpeness on March 23.

On a tight, gorse and heather lined course, Moby's driver and 3 wood worked with unerring accuracy. While fellow Nobbers (Captain Chaos, Verve, Big Boy), lost as many as five balls per round, the Mobester retained the same pinnacle over the two days.

Cut from a generous 10 handicap to 7 for the second day after scoring 36 points, Moby held it together to shoot another 30 points, as others struggled in high winds and torrential rain. Smithers and Big Boy, both cut to 6 after coming 2nd and 3rd on day one, finished out of the prizes.

Overall, 2nd was Big Ron, with Perry Lodge taking 3rd prize.

The Mobester is now a record breaking Nob, with three tour wins in three years. He is the only player to have successfully retained the trophy.

Thanks to Pete 'Boz' Boston, ably assisted by 'Mr. Organisation' Smithy.
